The Miami Beach City Commission is making a generous gesture by gifting an ambulance to the Israeli coastal city of Nahariya. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 10:30 a.m. in the City Hall Commission Chambers. Mayor Steven Meiner expressed the city’s unwavering commitment to the safety and strength of Nahariya and all of Israel. The ambulance will be accepted by American friends of Magen David Adom in honor of the people of Nahariya, which is a Sister City of Miami Beach. With residents of Nahariya being advised to stay close to protected spaces and shelters due to escalating conflict, this ambulance will provide critical support.
Magen David Adom, as Israel’s official representative to the International Red Cross, does not receive government support for its operations. The organization relies on donations from the United States and other sources to acquire dispatch systems, training, and equipment. Miami Beach City Commissioner Kristen Rosen Gonzalez shared that the decision to donate an ambulance was inspired by the heinous attack on Israel on Oct. 7, 2023. The gesture was seen as a more impactful way to show support for Nahariya.
